Back from vacation
Jul. 4th, 2009 07:31 pmI spent the past week with my family (parents, sister, brother-in-law, and niece) at Cape Cod. We rented the same house as last year, which is conveniently located three houses down from a pond complete with small beach that is perfect for swimming and building sand castles. The weather was often iffy, but there were only two days where it rained all day.
Some highlights included a visit to the Edward Gorey House, finding a great used book store in the Yarmouth area, and walking along the Nauset Marsh Trail (part of the Cape Code National Seashore). I also got a good amount of handsewing done during the evenings - more than I thought I would, but not as much as I had hoped, per usual.
All in all, it was a good time, though I was ready to go home on Thursday rather than Saturday. As it was, I came home on Friday in order to pick up my mom's dog from the kennel, as the next pick-up time would have been late Sunday afternoon. It meant that I needed to spend the night at Mom's to watch the dog, but at least I was able to see my boys and make sure that they were okay.
