The weekend
Feb. 26th, 2007 02:48 pmSo, I finally saw "A Man for All Seasons" on Saturday (part of TCM's Oscar celebration) and thought it was great! I'm sure there were plenty of historical inaccuracies about Thomas more that I didn't pick up on it, but it was a great piece of acting. And I got a good laugh from the outfits of Henry VIII and his nobles. The stuff that More and his family wore didn't look nearly so bad.
I started in on a new corset based on the Effigy pattern. Given that I am making it from a duct tape pattern generated for me last year by the kind Giselle (and I have since gained wieght), and given that I am not sure about the placement pattern for the boning, it's sure to be an interesting experiment. I'm almost positive that this is a trial run that i will not be able to wear. There's too many variables, including the fact that the reed boning will probably shrink the corset more than the usual steel boning. The channels are all sewn, and if I have the energy to do it tonight, I will soak the reeds and cut them into the proper lengths.
Tonight I'm planning making Master Luke's recipe for leeks with ham and bacon (and cumin!) for dinner. Yum!
