Which would you rather eat at this Simplefare? Blanch Poree (cold, almond/cream rice dish) or Lemon Whyte (hot lemon rice with peas, raisins, mushrooms, almonds)?

Please speak up! Your comments will help to determine which dish will be made.

Yep, as do I! I think that most people like it better than Lemon Whyte (with the possible exception of Evaine - she's usually the one to mention that it's time to do the Lemon Whyte). I just want to muster my arguments for why we should make the good stuff!

Blanch Poree please. I'm not sure what the husband prefers - he can chime in for himself.

Okay, that's two votes for BP from your household. Your husband was remarkably quick in his response. :-)

I am embarrassed to admit that I couldn't remember which he preferred. Sounds like Evaine may be out of luck.

Lemon Whyte.

1) It's hot.
2) It has both raisins and mushrooms, which are delightful.
3) It's not cold.
4) There is enough stuff with cream already.
5) It's past time for Lemon Whyte.
6) Lemon Whyte is the official rice dish of House Zacharius.

(Gotta try, at any rate...)

Hmph! The official dish?? Since when?

And are you even going to be there this year?? :-)

Since I'm the Houselord and can declare such and sundry...

And, yes, I expect to be there. Made sure the weekend game did not fall on the same week!

Blanche Poiree:
1) It's cold, and therefore does not have to be kept hot in order to get it out to the tables at the correct temperature.
2) It does not have mushrooms, which are nasty and Not Food.
3) It is not hot
4) There can never be enough cream, which is decadent and lovely.
5) It's never not time for Blanche Poiree.
6) It is the official dish of my household (both of us) who will be working off our posteriors in the kitchen all day.

:-p

In Novermber?

Lemon Whyte, lemon Whyte!

What help do you need for Simple Fare?

Hmmm....another Lemon Whyte fan. You folks are crawling out of the woodwork! :-)

Help is always needed in the kitchen at Simplefare, and for cleanup. I'm sure that Leandra (the autocrat) is looking for help with the Gate, as well as the activities outside, but I would contact her to be sure. Thank you!

I am usually in the kitchen for pot scrubbing duty. I will send Lady Hilary to Leandra.

Ok, now I'm starting to feel guilty!

It probably has been quite awhile since we made Lemon Whyte.

Would you consider me weird if I said lemon? :) Less sugar I hope... :)

No sugar at all actually.

No, I wouldn't consider you to be weird. I also enjoy the dish. I just happen to like Blanch Poree a bit better. :-)

We're always happy and grateful to receive offers of help in the kitchen, even if we have nothing that needs doing. If you come, please stop by and say hello.
