Miscellaneous Stuff

1. My cousin had her baby girl today. Hurray! No name yet, but mom and baby are in good health.

2. I recently finished Chris Wickham's The Inheritance of Rome, and it was as good as jdulac  said it was - a well written survey of the western and eastern successors to the Roman Empire.

3. On the fiction front, I've also just read two books in a series by Galen Beckett (pen name for author Mark Anthony) - The Magicians and Mrs. Quent, and The House on Durrow Street. They're fantasy novels set in an alternative Regency / Victorian England. The first one was especially amusing (though derivative) as it was a cross between high fantasy, Jane Austen, and Charlotte Bronte. They're not the best things I've ever read, but I enjoyed them nonetheless.

4. This weekend I'm going to a pottery exhibition/sale, and BBM-Bergental Yule, and looking forward to both.

5. Post-Christmas plans so far include a trip into NYC with kls_eloise , and a craft day with lucianus  and jdulac . Yay!!
