The Other Boleyn Girl
Mar. 5th, 2008 10:09 amI saw it last weekend with my aunt, who very generously used the last of her movie passes, so I got in for free.
At the end of the movie, my aunt turned to me and said "Well, that wasn't so bad was it?" That was my cue to clutch my head in my hands and let out a short scream of aggravation.
Aside from the many issues I had with the film's version of history (people, events, etc.), I thought that the acting was substandard and the chemistry between Henry (Bana) and Anne (Portman) was lousy. It left me wondering why Henry would have dropped Mary Boleyn for Anne, much less Catherine of Aragon.
My recommendation is to save yourself some money and wait until it comes out on DVD. That way, you can make as many snarky comments while viewing it as you like.
Trust me on this one.
